Valentine's Day sugar cookies

Watch out guys!

taking it very seriously

Yes, she is in her Pajama's. And it was 2pm. We'd already been out and ready, she changed back after we got home.  She lost tokens for this but still didn't care much. She loves to wear her pajama's and would do so all day if I let her.

dont worry, after she had her way with the knife I took it away and gave her a new one.

I must admit, I know it may sound bad. May rub some of you the wrong way. But I do not like making sugar cookies with my kids. O' I still do it. But I am on the verge of hating it.
The dough takes forever to chill, its a pain to continually roll it out and cut shapes into. I dont like making and tinting the frosting, its a mess. And the decorating kills me.  I can not stand how messy the decorating is. By the time I am done there are a million dishes to do, frosting all over my kids, their clothes and the counters. Not to mention the small red sprinkles I will be cleaning up off of the floor for months.
But my kids love it, so I do it. For them.
And they had a great time today.

Oh Jill! I love your honesty. And I with you 100% on the cookies making and decorating! The things we do for our kids! Hopefully one day they will truely appreciate it. I'm pretty sure my mom has said the same thing, and I do! I hope that you are all doing well and Olivia is continuing to get better!

I feel you on the sugar cookies. They are INTENSE! It is so much easier that I still only have one. But, even then it is intense.

I'm with ya on this one! It's one of those things we just do and grin and bare it!!! The end result, after we clean up, is worth it but they eat so much frosting while doing it I hate to give them cookies!

It does not make you a bad Mom . . . I feel the same way! Actually, I don't mind the decorating, but the making and whole "process" of it all is just a little much for me sometimes. But, we will be doing it too. The goal is either today or tomorrow. I am thinking today I should make the dough and do the rest tomorrow. But, we shall see how it pans out. Infact, I have been trying to do Valentine's Day stuff all week and I have yet to even get my decorations out. This sick baby is making a little hard. Oh well. I will try to make the best out of the actual day Valentine's Day! At least Brian will be home to help since it is a Saturday. I wouldn't trade my little Chase for any Valentine's Day craft/project though. He is finally getting better and that just makes me happy.

I am so with you! I end up screaming at my kids because they are messing them up, lol. So they are only allowed to help with cutting them out for one round and then they have to wait to decorate later. I wish I could just do it all and let them eat them, but that's not being a good mom, lol.
