A sad realization

I just got to thinking... why is it I have already gained 10 lbs. Most of which in the last 6 weeks. Then it hit me. The following are the things I crave and eat the most during this pregnancy. What do you think the damage is? Personally I cant believe I haven't gained more weight then I have.

97 calories and 33 mg of sodium in 1 can. I NEED at least one of these, or a Pepsi, each day. This one's not going anywhere!

Heavenly Egg Salad. Just 49 grams of fat. Luckily I have sort of kicked this one.... for now. Woody's has the yummiest ones out there, unless you can get my Mom to make her Grandmas recipe. Good luck with that one, though her's inevitably has less fat in it.

360 mg of sodium. This one is the snack I can feel the best about. Why is it I can t crave a single healthy thing? O' because I am Jill, who use to sneak the sugar bowl as a child and eat from it in my closet. And Ella is just like that.

I can eat these until my mouth has sores....29 grams of sugar in probably what equates to 1/4 of what I actually devour.

14 grams of fat later Im feeling a little guilty. Though I had a king-sized one yesterday :)

One 18 oz. package of these amazing treats? Only 2520 calories. And saturated fat? Im not even going to go there.

This is where I can do the most damage. My burger of choice... and major craving.... the Super Burger. Now this little baby is something I have already eaten probably 10 times thus far along with a healthy-sized portion of fries. The damage on this burger alone? Only 60 grams of fat. Thats right, you read that right. I know because I looked at it about 32 times with my eyes wide open whilst my jaw dropped. This is now strictly on a "special occasion" outing maybe once every 2 months. So amazing though!!!! I just had one yesterday, who am I kidding. I cant let this go either.

Anyone have any healthy snack ideas? I clearly need help.

Couple of tips... you can use low fat mayo in the egg sandwich and only half the amount of yolks (like 2 whites and one yolk), skip the coke. I know you hate the idea, but the empty calories and caffeine aren't doing you guys any favors, switch to reduced fat oreos and use moderation in the other splurges. That's my advice. But you are pregnant, so just think of the eating as something you are doing for you and your baby :) That coming from someone who has never been pregnant.

Yum... I'm hungry now! I do coke zero... I HATE diet coke, but have definitely managed to get by on coke zero! Can't help you out with the other things though... there's no good subsittue for a snickers and a ruby's burger! :)

At least you've gained 10lbs from being prego. I've gained 8 in the last 6 months just on my own! No baby to blame :)

you are HILARIOUS
i say eat all you want.
for as sick as you were in the beginning and all of the funky tastes you have acquired...enjoy what you can. and live it up. you'll only have the baby excuse for a few more months. you can work it off later.

by the way, even though you are the same size as you were with ella full term, you are still teeny tiny. so, if you get bigger, you just get more fun with maternity clothes. fun fun fun!

The Jeno's pizza at the top of your post made me laugh. When I was pregnant with my now one year old I ate those cardboard "pizzas" like they were going out of style. Even after I burned my mouth and my tastebuds on one I still craved them.

My toenails gained weight when I was pregnant so I should never be one to give advice on this subject. Other than this: enjoy the fact that for a few more months, you have a GREAT excuse for making your husband run to Walmart at three in the morning for Oreos.

I am laughing out loud! You know I can appreciate this post! I say go ahead and splurge while you have a good excuse! :) I love every single one of those things too, and now I'm craving something sweet, fattening and/or salty... thanks alot! jk.

you know my last diet, the "slim fast for breakfast, Rockstar Energy drink for lunch, and a sensible dinner (a corn dog and popcorn)" worked famously for me last summer. Now that I am eating three healthy meals, I am up almost 10 pounds. You are young, enjoy eating, because once you hit 30, you cannot ever eat again without getting fat.

That all looks like my usual weekly diet and I'm not pregnant! I love those Jeno's pizzas. Enjoy it all now! And you look great!

you kill me... but I must say... for the first time I look forward to being pregnant just for the food!!! that is after I barf for 5 months!

humm... healthy snack1! I love cottage cheese and I scoop salt and vinegar chips in them...ok...so the chips aren't the best but the majority of the snack is good!

you know what else I loved while pregnant...slices of green apple with cheddar cheese slices on top of that! oh so goooood!!!

I had cravings for fruit roll-ups and did the math on how much MORE weight I would gain eating just that. So I used to eat frozen red grapes, trail mix, popcorn (with less butter), big stick popsicles, tons of water, and jell-o...sugar free is just as good as the real stuff! Especially in the hot summers...all these were DELISH! Your SO teeny tiny compared to what I was...so I don't feel too bad for ya ha ha

Jill,
You are so funny. When I was pregnant with first three children I craved hot fudge sundays and ate them whenever I could get one. I didn't even gain weight. Now before you say thanks alot - here's the kicker. When I had Dave I tried doing the same thing.
I was 32 years old and gained 20 lbs. I'm still trying to lose it. Enjoy yourself now cause Charity is right - you get too far past 30 and your metabolism changes.

We live in Colorado Springs now-- about 45 minutes south. And you will be glad to know that Colorado Springs boasts its very own Ruby's (kind of random)! So, when you get the craving for a super burger come down and hang out with us! We would also love to come see you, Dave and your cute kids! Here is my email: michellhinkson@yahoo.com.

I LOVE LOVE LOVe Ruby's! YOu lucky thing! You are so funny with your snacks of choice. None of that stuff looks so good right now though. That is rare, but it probably will start looking good soon. Hope you are doing good. I am doing well thanks! Hope to talk to you soon.

Jill you crack me up! Well, I know how hard it is to resist those cravings!

I agree with whoever said Coke Zero is a good substitute -- it tastes pretty good.

ONe thing I tried to do was whenever I had a strong craving for something, I'd make myself drink a big glass of water, then I'd kind of forget about the craving. AT least for a little while! And your body needs a ton of water anyway, so it doesn't hurt!

I snacked on string cheese alot - it's low-fat and it kind of curbs the salty craving.

As for something sweet, buy fun fruity gum -- sometimes that little burst of something sweet in your mouth makes the sugar craving go away...plus, you're chewing for a while, so you don't think about eating.

If you don't really want to change your eating habits, then just get out and go walking with me and Vanessa every now and then!!! We'd love it if you came! :) (I am NOT trying to guilt-trip you, I promise!)
